Framed between two large Podo trees (Podocarpus latifolius) festooned with lichen is a fine view on top of the Aberdare Mountains looking across the moorlands to Ol doinyo Lesatima, 13120 feet, the highest peak of the entire mountain range. The range was named by the Scottish explorer, Joseph Thomson, in 1883 after the then President of the Royal Geographical Society, Lord Aberdare.
