Traditional thatched homesteads perched on top of the fertile Tugen Hills, looking across the Kerio Valley to the western scarp of the Gregory Rift (the Keiyo Escarpment). The Tugen Hills are a huge fault block in the middle of the Rift where important fossils remains of early man, as well as of animal and fish species, have been discovered near the top of the hills.
