This innovative style is found nowhere else in Turkanaland but suits the conditions at Lokori where the friable soil becomes a quagmire in heavy rain. It has the added advantage of lessening termite infestation and increasing air circulation, thus reducing the risk of malaria where the cerebral strain is endemic.
