The deep wells at Ilaut are an important watering place for Samburu and Rendille livestock alike. The wells are dug out afresh each year and worked by the warriors who sing as they pass the water containers up the line of men. The depth of a Waterhole is based on the number of men required to work it. Here we have a 4-man well.
