Hamar women of Southwest Ethiopia. The phallic protrusion on the necklace of the woman on the right denotes that she is her husband's first wife. The Hamar are semi-nomadic pastoralists whose richly-ochred women have striking styles of traditional dress. Skins are widely used for clothing and cowrie shells are popular adornments yet the sea is 500 miles from their home.
