A herd of Mountain Nyala (Tragelaphus buxtoni) pause in a glade in the Bale Mountains of Southern Ethiopia. Well adapted to temperature extremes, this rare and endangered antelope survives in isolated pockets above 9,000 feet. It is an endemic species, which was unknown to science until 1910.
