For_t de Day, a three and a half thousand-acre forest on top of the rugged Goda Massif, is a startling contrast to the mountain's barren slopes. Its existence is the result of clouds from the Red Sea rising up the sides of the mountain, bringing with them moisture. The clouds gently settle on high ground like a blanket and create a mist oasis where Juniper, olive and fig trees grow. The vegetation on top of the Goda Massif is more reminiscent of the Mediterranean than Africa.
