Crested tit (Lophophanes cristatus). The crested tit is widespread in coniferous forests throughout central and northern Europe, although in Britain it tends to be found only in the pinewoods of the Spey Valley in Scotland. It has an erectile crest and dark collar. It nests in holes in rotting tree stumps, and feeds on insects and seeds. Photographed in the Scottish Highlands, UK.
