Tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides). This variety of frogmouth is found throughout Australia and prefers a habitat of open eucalyptus woodland. It hunts at night by waiting on a low perch for its prey. The tawny frogmouth is often camouflaged when hunting and uses its beak to catch its prey. It feeds on rats, mice, cicadas, beetles, frogs and other small animals. Photographed in Tasmania, Australia.
