Atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica). The Atlantic puffin breeds on the coasts of northern Europe, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and eastern North America, but spends the winter months at sea. The birds dive for fish; this bird has a catch of sand eels held in its bill. They are 28-34 centimetres in length and have distinctive orange bill plates, which are shed after breeding. Photographed in Northumberland, England.
