Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos). This bird is resident in North America, southern and far- northern Europe and large parts of Asia. It mostly inhabits upland areas. An adult golden eagle can have a wingspan in excess of 2 metres and weight 5 kilograms. The golden eagle is a predatory bird which feeds on birds and small mammals and occasionally larger mammals such as foxes or young deer.
