Twoband anemonefish (Amphiprion bicinctus) tending to eggs. Anemonefish, also called clownfish, live in association with anemones. Females lay eggs on coral which males guard by mouthing and fanning with their fins. This action helps to circulate the water around the eggs. The young emerge after 6 to 7 days. Anemonefish are protected from the sting of sea anemones by slime on the fish's skin. The fish is protected against predators while the anemone is cleaned by the fish and receives a supply of food detritus. This fish can reach a length of 14 centimetres. It is found in the western Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. Photographed in the Red Sea.
