Pond snail embryos. Light micrograph of developing pond snail embryos (Lymnaea stagnalis). The embryos are contained in egg sacs inside a protective jelly-like covering. They have developed a shell, muscular foot and tentacles with eyes. When the snails make their way out of the gelatinous covering, they will feed on the algae attached to the jelly.
