Male oak eggar moth (Lasiocampa quercus) resting on a wall. Male oak eggar moths fly during the day and are a red-brown colour, whereas females are nocturnal and are a light brown colour. The females attract males by producing a scent (pheromone) from their abdomen. The first to reach her is likely to copulate successfully with her.
