Turbocharger. Cut away turbocharger showing turbine blades. This device is used in internal combustion engines to improve engine performance. It consists of a turbine (centre right) and a compressor. The turbine recieves exhaust gases from the engine which casuse the turbine wheel to rotate. The rotation drives the compressor to compress the ambient air and deliver it to the air intake part of the engine.
