A Clapper bridge. This is an ancient form of bridge found in upland areas of the British countryside. It is formed by laying large flat stones supported by stone piers to create a crossing over a river or stream. The name derives from the Saxon, meaning stepping stones. Photographed in Malham, Yorkshire Dales, UK.
