Atomium, Brussels. The Atomium was built by architect Andre Waterkeyn for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. The steel structure is 103 metres in height and was designed to represent a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. The Atomium was orginally built to only last up to six months, but it has now become a popular tourist attraction. Panoramic views of Brussels can be enjoyed inside the spheres.
