Dennis Tito, first space tourist, on the International Space Station (ISS). Tito, an American multimillionaire, paid $20 million (almost ?14 million) to join as a spaceflight participant on board the Soyuz TM-32. Tito (centre) tries to balance in microgravity conditions, aided by Talgat Musabayev (right), the commander of the spacecraft. The purpose of the Russian launch of Soyuz TM-32 on 28 April 2001 was to carry new crew and supplies to the International Space Station. The whole trip lasted 7days, 22 hours and 4 minutes and orbited Earth 128 times. Dennis Tito opposed the label of 'tourist', as the former scientist of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory performed several scientific experiments in orbit.
