Asronaut Thomas Akers using the galley water supply to rehydrate a package of grapefruit juice during Mission STS-41 on Space Shuttle Discovery. The crew of each Shuttle flight is provided with a different menu for up to six days in dehydrated form, a total capacity of 30-days supply for seven astronauts being provided. Each day's menu contains 3000 calories, both hot and cold food and drinks are available. Solid foods may be eaten with a spoon or fork as normal, but liquid items, as seen here, are served in sealable containers. Launched on 5th October 1990, Discovery completed 66 Earth orbits before landing safely on 9th October 1990.
