Spiral galaxy NGC 488. NGC 488 is a near perfect spiral galaxy that lies about 90 million light years away in the constellation of Pisces. It is quite a faint galaxy with a magnitude of 10.3. It belongs to the Sb type of galaxies and displays a yellowish average-sized core region and quite tightly wound blue spiral arms. Stars within NGC 488 complete circular orbits at a speed of 330 kilometres per second, compared to the 220 kilometres per second they travel within our own Milky Way.
