Radio telescope at Hat Creek Radio Observatory (HCRO), California, USA. HCRO is operated by the Radio Astronomy Laboratory (RAL) of the University of California, Berkeley, who founded the observatory in 1959. The earliest experiments in millimetre-wave astronomy, which began in the 1970s, were performed at this site. By the 1990s the site had acquired a 10-element (dish) millimetre interferometer that became known as BIMA. Nine of these 6.1 meter dishes were relocated to Cedar Flat in 2005 to form part of the Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA), leaving this remaining dish at HCRO.
