Neolithic standing stone. This stone is part of Avebury henge, a Neolithic monument dating to around 5000 years ago. The monument consists of earthworks, known as dykes, situated in a large ditch. Many of the original stones were destroyed so the land could be used for building and agricultural purposes from the early 14th Century onwards. Photographed in Avebury, Wiltshire, UK.
