Dwarfism. From left to right the dwarfs are: General Tom Thumb (1838-1883), Miss Lavinia Warren (1841-1919) and Commodore Nutt (George Washington Morrison Nutt). General Tom Thumb was a stage name, and his real name was Charles Sherwood Stratton. In 1863, Stratton and Warren were married in a lavish ceremony, and Nutt was the best man. All three dwarfs were managed by the US circus showman P. T. Barnum. They were examples of proportionate dwarfism, usually due to a lack of human growth hormone, where the limbs and body are in the correct proportions.
