This hand-held device uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to measure body fat as a percentage and in kilograms. Electrodes are placed on the body and a very low current is passed through the body. The current can pass through lean tissue such as muscle, but encounters resistance when passing through fatty tissue. This patient has a reading of 17.8%, which falls into the healthy range of 14-25% body fat for men.
