Nightingale faeces facemask. Beauty therapist applying a facemask treatment made from dried nightingale bird (Luscinia megarhynchos) faeces, white clay and water. This traditional skincare treatment has been used for centuries by Japanese kabuki actors and geisha to remove heavy makeup and as a facemask. The product is manufactured as powder that has been sterilised with ultraviolet light. It must be mixed with water before being applied directly to the subject's face.
