The fundus is the interior surface of the eye. A fundus camera is used to check for fundus problems such as detachment of the retina (the light-sensitive membrane at the back of the eye) and glaucoma (high pressure inside the eyeball). It can also produce specialist images such as retinal angiographs, where fluorescent dye highlights the retina's capillary system, revealing any hidden eye abnormalities.
