Greenlight HPS laser machine in an operating theatre. This machine is used for minimally invasive, or keyhole, surgery. The laser is inserted into the body and targeted at diseased cells, which it vapourises. It does not cause bleeding as the heat from the laser cauterises any blood vessels that are hit. This machine is particularly successful at treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate.
