Perforated eardrum, the result of trauma from over-zealous use of a inscotton budins, a type of cotton swab on a short stick, in cleaning wax from the ear. The perforation is surrounded by fresh blood from a skin cut in the ear canal. Uncomplicated perforations of the eardrum tend to heal naturally over a period of one month. Any slight deafness is transient.
