Claude Grahame White (1879-1959), British aviator, in an aeroplane. Grahame White was the first person to make a night flight, which took place in 1910 during the London to Manchester race. In 1911, he established what would later become Hendon Aerodrome. He was then involved in a legal battle with the RAF over the aerodrome's ownership, and eventually he retreated from aviation and retired to France. Photograph from the Bain News Service.
