Michael J. Seaton (born 1923), British astronomer and physicist. After serving in the Second World War, Seaton studied at University College, London (UCL), graduating with a physics degree. His major work has been on quantum physics and calculating reaction rates in astrophysics. He became Professor of Physics at UCL in 1963, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1967. He was President of the Royal Astronomical Society from 1979 to 1981, and received the society's Gold Medal in 1983. Other awards include the Hughes Medal of the Royal Society (1992).
