Louisa Brandreth Aldrich-Blake (1865-1925), British physician. Aldrich-Blake trained at the London (Royal Free Hospital) School of Medicine for Women, graduating in 1893. She then became the first woman to qualify as a surgeon, becoming a senior surgeon in 1910. She worked at the Royal Free and the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital. During World War I, her responsibilities increased and she became a consultant surgeon. Aldrich-Blake also trained other women as doctors, becoming Dean in 1914 of the school where she had studied 21 years earlier. She was made Dame CBE in 1924.
