The image on the screen is a coloured SEM of lichen. Meckes (born 1963) was educated at the Institute of Scientific Photography, Germany and worked for 9 years as an underwater photographer. In 1994, he set up Eye Of Science with Nicole Ottawa. Nicole Ottawa (born 1965) studied biology before working as a scientific photographer and electron microscopist. Eye Of Science began producing high- quality digital images of coloured scanning electron micrographs in 1995. Photographed in 2006.
