Inspection of tapped rubber trees on a plantation in Malaya. The tree is scored in a counter- clockwise spiral, cutting into the phloem structure where the latex vessels are present. The latex flows gradually down the bole of the tree and is directed into a glass or earthenware cup. Tapping is done as early in the day as possible, when the latex pressure is at its greatest.
