Stone tool. Ancient palaeolithic stone cleaver from the hominid (early human) Acheulean culture. This tool has a sharp cutting edge at one end (lower centre). The tools of the Acheulean culture were advanced compared to other hominid tools of the time, and are thought to have been made by the early human species Homo erectus and by early Homo sapiens peoples. Acheulean tools were manufactured over a period that lasted from 1.5 million to 200,000 years ago. This cleaver was found in the Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, Africa.
