Desert plants. View of a mixed community of desert wild flowers and cacti. These include teddy bear cholla (Opuntia bigelovii), the dark stemmed cacti. This cactus has spines which stick into animals as they brush past. The spines can grow into new cacti if they fall to earth. The red flowers of chuparosa (Justicia or Beloperone californica) can also be seen. Photographed in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California, USA.
