Olanzapine antipsychotic drug molecule. Computer model of a molecule of olanzapine, an atypical antipsychotic medication marketed under the trade names Zyprexa and Zyprexa Zydis. It is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, addressing symptoms such as acute agitation and the manic and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. The exact mechanism of action is not known, though it may work by blocking receptors for several neurotransmitters (chemicals that carry signals through the nervous system) in the brain. Atoms, represented as tubes, are colour-coded: carbon (green), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and sulphur (orange).
