W particle decay. The W, which lives too briefly to be visible, was created in a high-energy proton-antiproton collision in CERN's Super-Proton-Synchrotron collider. A gauge boson & one of the carriers of the weak force, the W's 1983 discovery at CERN helped confirm the inselectr- oweakins theory unifying the electromagnetic & weak forces.
