Tegucigalpa, Honduras, satellite image. Tegucigalpa, located in south central Honduras, is the county's capital and largest city. It was founded in the sixteenth century by the Spanish as a gold and silver mining centre. It became the capital of Honduras in 1880. Its main industries today are textiles, sugar and cigarettes. Taken by the Ikonos satellite on 23 January 2004.
