Termez, Uzbekistan, Ikonos satellite image. Termez is a small city in the south of Uzbekistan. North is at top. Its prominence is gained from its situation as a port on the River Amu Darya (right). The main road from Russia to Afghanistan also runs through it. It lies in an important agricultural region and a large part of its economy is derived from cotton, as well as brick and tile production. Photographed on 8 August 2000.
