Manila, Philippines, satellite image. Manila is the capital and largest city of the Philippines. It is located on the island of Luzon. Manila is the commercial and industrial centre of the Philippines. Its manufacturing industries include metal fabrication, automobile assembly and textiles. Manila also has two large container ports (South port is at top left) and an international airport. On the left is Manila Bay, an inlet from the South China Sea. At lower centre is a harbour which houses the Philippine Navy's headquarters. At top right is the Pasig River, which splits the city in two. Taken by the Ikonos satellite on 13 June 2001.
