Red-gilled webcap mushrooms. Group of red-gilled webcap mushrooms (Cortinarius semisanguineus). Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies, reproductive structures, of fungi. The gills on the underside of the caps contain millions of spores, the reproductive cells of fungi. The caps of these mushrooms are used to dye wool. Photographed in October in Cornwall, UK.
