Strawberry. View of a ripe strawberry (Fragaria sp.). It is a false fruit, as the sweet fleshy part develops from the receptacle of the flower rather than from the female parts, the carpels. The carpels form the yellow pips (achenes) on the outside of the strawberry which are the true fruit. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C.
