Amlodipine cardiac pill. Pill of the drug amlodipine maleate, prescribed for hypertension and angina. Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker. Market names include Norvasc and Istin. It relaxes the smooth muscle in walls of arteries, allowing blood to flow more freely, and reducing blood pressure. The same effect reduces the pain of angina (impaired blood flow to heart muscle).
