Anti-inflammatory drug. Packets of Hydrocortone, a drug containing the hormone hydrocortisone as the active ingredient. This hormone is secreted by the adrenal glands, and is used to treat deficiencies in disorders of these glands, and also in its main role as an anti-inflammatory. It is used to treat an extremely wide range of inflammatory symptoms arising from many disorders, including rheumatism, systemic lupus erythematosus, skin disorders like dermatitis and psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, and also cancers like leukaemia and lymphomas. Dosage can vary from 20 to 240 milligrams (mg) per day, and is adjusted to suit the patient. Hydrocortone is manufactured by Merck Sharp and Donne (MSD).
