Haematoma. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of a haematoma (mass of clotted blood, white) on an 82 year old man's back. This was taken 6 weeks after a bad fall. A haematoma is a localised collection of blood caused by bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel. Most haematomas disappear without treatment after several days.
