Twoband anemonefish. Two twoband anemone fish (Amphiprion bicinctus) amongst their host anemones. The anemonefish, also known as the clown fish, is always found in association with sea anemones. The fish rests, eats, and lays its eggs among the anemones stinging tentacles, which protect the fish from predators. The fish is not harmed by the anemone because its body is covered in a coating of protective mucus. The fish provides food for the anemone and keeps it free of parasites. The twoband anemonefish can grow up to 15 centimetres long and is found in tropical water, inhabiting lagoons and outer reefs. It is not found at depths exceeding 30 metres. Photographed in the Red Sea, Egypt.
