Maiden goby (Valenciennea puellaris) on the seabed. This fish inhabits shallow sandy seabeds in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It is usually found in pairs. It feeds on tiny invertebrates, which it catches by filtering sand through its gill rakers. It can reach a length of up to 17 centimetres. Photographed in the Egyptian Red Sea.
